S. M Abu Jafar has recently been promoted as Deputy Managing Director (DMD) of Al-Arafah Islami Bank PLC. Prior to the promotion he was serving as Senior Executive Vice President since 2021, bringing with him a wealth of experience from a remarkable banking career that began in 2000 at Exim Bank PLC. as a recruit of 1st Batch of Management Trainee Officer.
Before his tenure at AIB PLC. S. M Abu Jafar held key positions at Exim Bank and United Commercial Bank. This diverse experience spans especially foreign trade desk, manager (operations) as well as manager of three corporate and AD branches contributing to his extensive 24-year background in the Banking sector. He has been awarded “Chairman Gold Medal” for three times for his outstanding performances. He has also received “Integrity Award” from AIB PLC. in 2017.
In addition to his practical experience, S. M. Abu Jafar has undergone numerous trainings in Banking and Finance. He has also participated in various seminars, workshops and symposiums, both domestically and internationally, further enhancing his expertise. S. M Abu Jafar completed his B. Com. (Hon’s) and M. Com. in Accounting from the University of Dhaka. Mr. Jafar’s promotion reflects both his extensive experience and his commitment towards the development of the Bank.
